DO GREAT IDEA JUST HAPPEN? OR ARE THEY NURTURED? OR A MIX OF BOTH?
A few weeks ago, I attended a Power Breakfast with a guest speaker, CEO of Zillow, Spencer Rascoffe and asked him what did ZILLOW mean. How did he come up with that name?
In the discussion, someone asked where the Name/Brand of 'ZILLOW' came from. He answered saying it was a contraction of two ideas. 1/ Zillions of numbers: the ones that homeowners want to qualify/quantify their property search. 2/ Pillows as a the metaphor of the cozy home we find. The name did in fact come out of the blue, but then a branding agency was hired to the necessary homework... and after lots of research, ZILLOW proved itself worthy and justified after a strategy session and due diligence.
