BACKGROUND | Mathieu has spend more than three decades specializing in branding for a range global, national, and regional companies – in a variety of industries – from hospitality to fashion and non-profits to tech.
Recently, he served as the Creative Director at Landor Associates Paris (a world-renowned 20+ offices global agency in brand strategy and design) over a span 12 years. While at Landor, Mathieu worked on strategic branding and story-telling projects for companies such as Kempinski Hotels, Rémy Martin, Danone, Proctor&Gamble, Citröen, Philip Morris, La Mamounia Hotel, Bahlsen Cookies, Roche Pharmaceuticals, and many more.
Since founding TBIB, Mathieu has focused on smaller to medium-sized business, but using big agency thinking and scaling it to the needs of the project at hand. Some of these current and recent clients are: Venus WIlliams, Oregon Pediatric Society, Oregon Ballet Theater, Girls Inc., Eco-trust, AboutFace Magazine, Alima Pure Cosmetics, AIGA, Yellow Moon Cheese Company, BlackRidge Land Company and more.
Through a diligent and process-driven series of strategic tools, he builds the foundation for brand positioning, brand personality, and story-telling – key elements to building an effective arsenal of print and/or digital brand elements.
LIFE | Mathieu was born in Madagascar and has grown-up and lived in Africa, the Middle East, South America, Canada, Europe, and the US and is now proud to call Portland and Paris home to his office and life.
He received his BFA with a double-major in photography and communication design at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design (Vancouver, BC) and attended several semesters in a studies abroad program in Osaka. Several years later, he furthered his education at the Portfolio Center.
Since then, he worked at the prestigious Pentagram, Slaughter Group, and Landor Associates agencies. e's started one other agency, sold it, to later open his own boutique brand-design studio, TBIB.
AWARDS | As Principal and Creative Director of TBIB, Mathieu is responsible for the overall strategic and creative development of the studio.
His work has received numerous branding and industry awards from AIGA, American Advertising Federation, Print Design Annuals, Communication Design Annuals, How Regional Design Annuals.
